Between Genre's

As a writer do you ever feel torn between genre's? I know I do. I have a hard time finding my niche. I love to write fiction as well as non-fiction. I write romance, fantasy, SF and anything that I take a fancy too! I can't help myself.

I consider myself a Christian writer, though not always is my work Christian. I do write secular stories.

So if you ever feel torn between genre's, write what you want, write what you feel. Why choose?

My blog writing is essentially non-fiction, but traditionally, as a fiction writer, I do sometimes alter the facts for the sake of a more dramatic and iinteresting read. I guess it's finally intuitive, and I do not worry about exactly which genre I'm writing in -- only to keep my voice consistent.

I absolutely find myself torn. I like several genres and age groups. I've written adult, MG and YA and Sci/fi, adventure and now I'm writing a suspense (for Nano).

I had someone tell me that it isn't good for an author to write "outside" their genre/age because it confuses their readership. I'm not sure I agree with that. I think we should write what we are led to write. What does everyone else think?

I do write roamance, historical and contemporary. also women's fiction and some literary short stories. It all depends what mood I'm in that makes me decide what I want to tackle that day.

I do sometimes, I have to write what flows in my head and always seems that my soul takes over when I write...I do these weekly posts with like Saturday Centus and others and usually it's what has happend recently to me that lays heavy in my thoughts and I get a chance to bring it out on one of these blogs. Especially Six Word Saturday, I can really pour a whole lot of me, and life and whatever right there ....writers just write.
