A Tribute to My Father-in-law Andrew Floyd Jones

Yesterday my father-in-law passed away. I've written a poem in his honor.

My Father-in-law

My father-in-law accepted
me as I am...
no questions asked
he didn't care about my past

He welcomed me with
an open heart and mind
to me he was very kind

My father-in-law
will be missed...
he was gentle and kind
his character defined

Good-bye dear loved one
you sailed to the heavens above...
at peace you now are
among the shining stars

Written in memory of my father-in-law Andrew Floyd Jones September 8th 1931- May 26th 2011

"The Journey"

This months topic for Christian Writer's blog chain is journey.

I've chosen to write about how my journey of life began 50 years ago. On May 23rd 1961 I was adopted.
My path was changed, but not forever. It only took a detour.

I've been on many journeys since then, journeys filled with u-turns, one way streets and potholes...
But my many journeys have led me to where I am today, without them I could not have found myself.

A life journey is a quest, it's a blessing. It's where you find yourself. It's where you discover who you really are.
It's where you meet God. It's where you meet good and evil.
Where you choose to go on your journey in life is most often where you'll end up. I chose many paths that led
to nowhere, but I soon realized I needed to get back on the road to where God wanted me.

My journey is far from over. I still stumble over roadblocks, but I now know how to  go around the obstacles  that stand in my way.

Be sure to check out the other blog chain writer's to the left.

Maybe Next Time

Life is full of maybe's!

Maybe I should have
 Maybe I could have...
Maybe I would have
 if only...

What are your maybe's?

Maybe Yesterday

Maybe Yesterday

Maybe yesterday I thought I could change the world
I thought I was Superwoman...

Maybe yesterday I thought I could live forever
I thought I was invincible...

Maybe yesterday I thought I would never see destruction
I thought I was living in a dream...

Maybe yesterday...

Maybe Tomorrow

In honor and memory of the Alabama tornado victims April 27th, 2011

Maybe tomorrow
they can pick up
the pieces of their lives...

Maybe tomorrow
they can understand why
this happened to them...

Maybe tomorrow
they can muster the
strength to carry on...
