October Madness Challenge #5

Today's challenge from Britney: Challenge #5
Make a list of the Top 10 Books (You Think) Every Writer Should Read. You can cater the list toward whatever genre you write (i.e. Top 10 Books Every Poet Should Read, Top 10 Books Every YA Contemporary Writer Should Read, Top 10 Books Every Picture Book Writer Should Read, etc.)

So without further adieu here is my list:

  1. The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr.  No writer can do without this constant companion.
  2. Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynne Truss
  3. Grammatically Correct by Anne Stilman
  4. Novel & Short Story Writer's Market by Adria Haley (One of my favorite's)
  5. On Writing: 10th Anniversary Edition: A Memoir of the Craft  by Stephen King
  6. On Writing Well, 30th Anniversary Edition: The Classic Guide to Writing Nonfiction by William Knowlton Zinsser
  7. Writing Fiction For Dummies by Randy Ingermanson and Peter Economy
  8. Writing Dialogue by Tom Chiarella
  9. 250 Things You Should Know About Writing by Chuck Wendig
  10. Writing to Heal the Soul: Transforming Grief and Loss Through Writing by Susan Zimmermann
This is my list. What's yours?
