Trifecta: Week Ninety-Two- Bowling for Turkeys

Once again after a long hiatus, I'm throwing myself into the wonderful writing world of the Trifecta.
What is the Trifecta?
The  Trifecta Writing Challenge is to write about a word, but not just any word. You must use the third definition and write between 33 and 333 words.

This weeks word is:

1: a large North American gallinaceous bird (Meleagris gallopavo) that is domesticated in most parts of the world
2: failure, flop; especially : a theatrical production that has failed
3: three successive strikes in bowling
4: a stupid, foolish, or inept person

Here goes nothing:

Bowling for Turkeys

Lucky Strike Bowling Alley, the pink and blue neon lights flashed inviting the Saturday night crowd inside. Johnnie had heard from a friend of a friend this was the best bowling in town. He also heard number ten lane was rigged. Johnnie was about to find out for himself if the rumors were true or just a bunch a bull.

He slicked back his jet black hair and grabbed his lucky ball. Metallic black with orange flames shot from each side of the twenty pounder. Johnnie kissed the shiny orb and sauntered inside the smokey bowling alley.

His nostrils were assaulted by something fowl in the air. What the hell? Thud, thud, thud.

"We don't use balls here son," a wrinkled old man pointed to Johnnie's black leather bag.

"What did you say old timer?"

"This is turkey bowl night. All the townsfolk here are bowling for turkeys"

Johnnie gave the old man a puzzled look. "You mean everyone is getting three strikes in a row?"

"No son, we be bowling for real live turkeys."

Johnnie's jaw dropped along with his bowling ball. He couldn't contain his laughter.

"You're joking?"

"Nope. Go grab you a frozen turkey and have a whack at it"

Johnnie didn't have time to grab his ball, he ran faster than a Tom Turkey on Thanksgiving to the nearest exit and to heck with three successive strikes in bowling. Who needs a turkey anyway?

Note: Not sure why blogger has highlighted my words, but I can't get it off for some reason. Sorry.
